There are different definitions for Traditional, Alternative, Holistic, Natural and ... medicine. I try to give you the most common, or easy to understand ones. Please let me know what do you think.
According to WHO publications, Traditional medicine like  Aromatherapy has a long history.
It is the total of the knowledge, skills, and practices based on the theories, beliefs, and experiences indigenous to different cultures, whether explicable or not, used in the maintenance of health, as well as in the prevention, diagnosis, improvement or treatment of physical and mental illnesses. The terms complementary/alternative/non-conventional medicine are used interchangeably with traditional medicine in some countries.

Practices of traditional medicine vary widely from country to country, and from region to region, as they are influenced by factors such as culture, history, personal attitudes, and philosophy. In many cases, their theory and application are entirely different from those of conventional medicine. Long historical use of many practices of traditional medicine, including experience passed on from generation
to generation, has demonstrated the safety and efficacy of traditional medicine.

However, scientific research is needed to provide additional evidence of its safety and efficacy. In conducting research and evaluating traditional medicine, knowledge, and experience obtained through the long history of established practice should be respected.

A major determinant of healing consequences is the nature of the relationship built between physician/healer/therapist, and patient, in which patient autonomy is supported.

The excellent healer-patient relationship values the demands, wishes, awareness and insight of the patient as well as those of the healer.

Holistic healers reassure patients to invoke the healing power of love, hope, happiness, and passion, and to release the deleterious consequences of resentment, shame, selfishness, depression, and prolonged fear, rage, and sadness.

Holistic         Medicine

Holistic medicine is the art and science of healing that addresses the whole person – body, mind, and spirit. The practice of holistic medicine integrates conventional and alternative therapies to prevent and treat disease, and most importantly, to promote optimal health. This condition of holistic health is defined as the unlimited and unimpeded free flow of life force energy through body, mind, and spirit.
Holistic medicine encompasses all safe and appropriate modalities of diagnosis and treatment. It includes analysis of physical, nutritional, environmental, emotional, spiritual and lifestyle elements. Holistic medicine focuses on patient education and participation in the healing process.
